Lincoln Park Campus Taxicab Accident Injures Three

A taxicab accident near the Lincoln Park campus of DePaul University left one twenty-year-old woman in serious but stable condition early this morning. As reported by the Chicago Tribune, the woman and two other people who sustained injuries from the crash were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

According to the Tribune, the accident was the result of two cabs colliding at an intersection near the Lincoln Park Campus after one of the cab drivers ignored a red light. The collision took place at the corner of Ashland and Fullerton Ave. at around one o’clock this morning. At this time, police are reporting that all the injured parties are in stable condition after all three were transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic.

As taxicabs are deemed “common carriers” in this state, there is an expectation that taxi drivers in Illinois will exercise the highest level of care when transporting passengers from one place to another. When a taxi driver fails to live up to that standard, they can become liable for damages like medical bills and lost wages incurred by people who are injured by their negligence.
