Due to a hit-and-run accident that occurred over the weekend, a couple and their adult son are still recovering in the hospital.

The 46-year old driver of the other vehicle has been charged for the hit-and-run after turning himself in at the police station. His specific charges add up to a lengthy list, including three counts of “felony failure to report and accident with injury”. He is currently being held on a $150,000 bail.

The accident itself happened near the corner of Devon and Campbell Avenues. The driver at fault also hit another car and continued to drive down the road in the wrong direction until he made it home. There, he told his girlfriend about the hit-and-run experience he just had, and went into the Chicago police station the next morning.

As for the family that was hit, they are all still healing from the horrible incident. The father and son are still hospitalized, but have been moved out of the intensive care unit. The adult son, 28, suffered a broken ankle, fractured collarbone, and torn ligaments in both knees. The father, 68, suffers from a brain bleed, and broke various bones in the accident. Sadly, the woman of the family remains in a medically induced coma to help surpass the pain from her tibial and pelvic fractures. She also has arterial bleeding in the pelvic area and a number of lacerations.

Its never okay to leave the scene of an accident that you’ve played any part in without permission from legal authorities. If you have ever been a victim of a hit-and-run, make sure you contact a tough lawyer who can handle these types of cases.
