Fuel Leak Causes Recall Of Over 450,000 Fords

Ford recently announced that it will recall over 450,000 of its 2013 cars due to a car design defect which poses a fire risk. The recall impacts the 2013 model Ford Explorer, Flex, Interceptor, Fusion, Taurus and some Lincolns, among other vehicles.

The car maker said that it is not aware of any serious injuries or deaths due to the fuel leak issue, but that it has received over 600 complaints about the fuel leak from customers since last March.

This is one of many recalls impacting Ford vehicles. Last summer the company recalled 11,500 of its 2013 Escape SUVs due to another potential fire risk. Those vehicles suffered from a fuel line issue that was so severe that drivers were advised not to drive their vehicles until repairs were made.

In regards to the most recent recall, Reuters reports that the Ford will not have replacement parts for all owners until September. The carmakers problems getting new fuel delivery modules means that some car owners will have to wait several months to receive a notification.
