Gridlock On Bishop Freeway After Auto Accident

Traffic attempting to exit the Bishop Ford Freeway was backed up this morning due to a 3-car crash on East 130th Street. The Chicago Tribune reports that the accident happened around 5 a.m. at the 130th Street bridge over the highway. The accident was severe and one person had to be extricated from their vehicle.

It is unclear what caused this car accident, but two people were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Another severe car accident happened this weekend and resulted in a fatality. Authorities say that two brothers were inside of a vehicle that was hit by a hit-and-run driver around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The crash happened at the 3500 block of West Division Street and may have involved a drunk driver. Police are looking for the driver of a dark truck that was recorded facing the crash. That witness did not report the crash and also drove off.

Authorities declared a 24-year-old man in the struck vehicle dead about 40 minutes after the accident according to NBC Chicago. His 21-year-old brother was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition according to police. It is unclear whether the car was parked or disabled in a lane of traffic.
