One such fatal accident occurred on Saturday, March 8, 2014, when a man died after being ejected from his SUV on I-57 near 99 th Street in Chicago.
Police said the 29-year-old man was driving his 2000 Ford Explorer on southbound I-57. He was said to have veered to the right, causing his SUV to hit the side guardrail and roll over. Police believe that speeding played a large part in the man losing control of his vehicle.
The man was also not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, which caused him to be ejected from the vehicle.
He was then taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:20 a.m.
Parts of I-57 near 99 th Street were closed until 4:50 a.m.
