Six occupants of a car suffered serious injuries after an early morning traffic accident on the Bishop Ford Freeway. CBS Chicago reports that the crash prompted authorities to close the southbound lanes of the highway for several hours.
The crash happened shortly after midnight this morning on the interstate near 130th Street. A car containing six people was involved in a crash with two semi trucks. The car also caught fire after the crash.
Three of the car accident victims were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and the other half of the victims were taken to Metro South Hospital. Authorities say that the conditions of the passengers do not appear to be life threatening.
Another serious car accident occurred on Monday in Morgan Park. Authorities say a van operated by a disabled persons’ center crashed into a tree, injuring nine people. The crash happened around 8:45 a.m. yesterday on the 11400 block of South May Street.
Although none of the injuries in that crash appear to have been life-threatening, authorities say that at least three of the crash victims were in fair-to-serious condition. Six of the patients were in fair-to-good condition. This was one of many crashes that happened on Monday morning due to the slick road conditions in the Chicago area.
