Truck Driver Fatality Stems from Workplace Accident in Bensenville, Illinois

A Southwest Suburban Worth man was pronounced dead on Monday night at? Alexian Brothers Medical Center following a trucking accident in Bensenville, Illinois.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the man was performing a safety check of his rig at Vitran Express (651 Thorndale in Bensenville) when he became pinned between the door of his truck and a loading area post.  Vitran Express is a Canadian based corporation that provides expedited freight services to both the United States and Canada.

The medical examiners office has ruled the mans death an accident but it is unclear at this time what caused the man to become pinned between the cab door and the fixed object. The Tribune has revealed that, as of now, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) officials have begun investigating this accident and Vitran Express in order to determine the cause and whether a breach of certain safety protocols played a part in the fatality.
