Michael B. Goldberg is a founding partner of Goldberg Weisman Cairo and is a leading Illinois Personal injury and Workers’ Compensation attorney. Michael graduated from DePaul University Law School in 1974 where he was the Assistant Business Manager of the DePaul Law Review. He began his legal career with the Illinois Attorney General’s office as an Assistant Attorney General in the Illinois Industrial Commission Division. While there, Michael concentrated exclusively in Workers’ Compensation litigation, where he represented the State of Illinois in Workers’ Compensation matters.

Since 1978 Bennett J. Baker has been privileged to represent injured people in their struggle for justice against insurance companies and large corporations.  During this time he has also given time back to his profession by lecturing at numerous seminars pertaining to personal injury and trial practice as well as chairing various bar association groups in this field.

Joel J. Block has been with the law firm of GWC since February 1995. As an attorney concentrating in the area of Workers’ Compensation, Joel is one of the 3 most senior associates at GWC. Since joining the firm, Joel has been able to negotiate settlements in hundreds of cases for his clients. Joel has consistently made it his practice to maximize the value of his clients’ cases, whether that is accomplished by settlement, trial or appeal. In his practice, Joel has been able to negotiate individual settlements in the range of $150,000 to $400,000 for some of his most seriously injured clients.

Gerald J. Doll is an associate with Goldberg Weisman Cairo.  Since joining the firm in 1999, Mr. Doll has successfully represented injured working men and women throughout the State of Illinois.  

A 1992 graduate of Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, Mr. Doll has represented thousands of injured workers before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, Circuit and Appellate Courts.  Mr. Doll brings to each claim years of experience in litigating claims ranging from soft tissue strains and sprains to severe, career–ending injuries.

Harris L. Elliott

Harris L. Elliott is an associate attorney at Goldberg Weisman Cairo, where he began working as a clerk in 2006.  He concentrates his practice in workers’ compensation and is dedicated to helping the workingmen and women of Illinois obtain the medical care and compensation that they deserve when they are injured on the job.

Harris earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and then went on to earn his law degree from DePaul University College of Law.  While at DePaul, Harris was awarded a staff writer position on the school’s intellectual property journal after entering DePaul’s annual write-on competition.  

Kirsten M. Dunne

Kirsten, an accomplished appellate attorney, is in charge of GWC’s appellate department.  The example set by Kirsten’s parents instilled in her, early on in life, an understanding of and respect for the value of hard work, so when she decided to enter the practice of law, she naturally gravitated towards representing working class men and women.  Almost immediately, she found the field of plaintiffs’ personal injury and wrongful death to be a perfect fit.

Michael has been a partner at GWC since 1995 and started his legal career with the firm, first in 1983 as a law clerk and then in 1986 as an associate.  During his career, he has represented numerous clients with brain injuries, multiple fractures, paralysis, traumatic amputations and for wrongful death.  In particular, Michael has represented clients in the notable cases involving the scaffold collapse at the John Hancock Tower in Chicago and the I-294 / I-80 / I-394 flyover ramp bridge collapse.  He also handles cases involving serious injuries due to construction negligenc

Corey B. Goldberg

Corey B. Goldberg is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and DePaul University College of Law. As a student at DePaul, in conjunction with DePaul’s Street Law Program, Corey instructed inner city CPS students on the basics of the American Justice System. While attending law school, Corey worked as a law clerk for the firm being actively involved in all aspects of client representation, including all stages of Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation litigation. Corey joined Goldberg Weisman Cairo as an attorney after graduating from DePaul.

James B. Hardy

Jim graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.  He then spent several years as an Aide to U. S. Congressman William O. Lipinski, one of organized labor’s strongest supporters in Congress, prior to attending law school at Valparaiso University.  Born in Chicago into a union family, Jim developed an early respect for working men and women that continues to this day.

Christopher Hughes

Christopher is an associate attorney with GWC, where he started as a law clerk in 2001.  Christopher graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Medicine.  He went on to receive his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2003.  He is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice and the Illinois State Bar Association.  Christopher is licensed to practice throughout Illinois and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
