Michael B. Goldberg, Illinois Injury Attorney Michael B. Goldberg is a founding partner of Goldberg Weisman Cairo and is a leading Illinois injury attorney. Michael graduated from DePaul Law School in 1974 where he was the Assistant Business Manager of the DePaul Law Review. He began his legal career with the Illinois Attorney General’s office as an Assistant Attorney General in the Illinois Industrial Commission Division. While there, Michael concentrated exclusively in Workers’ Compensation litigation. In 1977, recognizing that most Workers Compensation attorneys did not handle third-party cases, Michael formed a partnership with Larry Weisman, a law school classmate who concentrated in third-party injury cases. Since 1977 GWC, with its 31 attorneys, has grown into one of the largest, most successful and most prestigious personal injury law firms in Illinois and the country.
The firm concentrates exclusively on representing people who have been injured in accidents and is well-known throughout Illinois. Michael believes that every client deserves to be treated with the utmost personal attention and respect. The firm’s extensive resources, resulting from their unparalleled success, allow them to stand up to large insurance companies and their large law firms. Michael attributes much of the firm’s success to the many satisfied clients that GWC has had the privilege of representing.
He is proud that Goldberg Weisman Cairo is the only law firm officially designated by the 47,000 member Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters to represent its members and families in accident cases. He is recognized as a leader in his field and often acts as an advisor to Labor leaders throughout Illinois. Michael is a frequent lecturer at many labor functions and recognizes the importance of education as a necessity in helping the injured worker protect his or her rights under the law. As a leading Illinois injury attorney, he is also proud to be the attorney for the State Council of Electrical Workers, and maintains close ties with most fields of organized labor, including Sheet Metal Workers, Iron Workers, Laborers, Bricklayers, IBEW, Plumbers, Pipefitters, Teamsters, UFCW, UAW, SEIU, Elevator Constructors, TCU, Roofers, Boilermakers, Painters, Ceramic Tile Layers, Tuckpointers, Sprinkler Fitters, Technical Engineers, and Operating Engineers.
While Michael has received a multitude of awards and honors, both civic and professional, he is most proud of the outstanding results his Illinois personal injury law firm has obtained for the thousands of clients it has represented.
When Michael is not working he loves to play golf. He is proud that 2 of his 5 children graduated from his law school alma mater in 2006, and hopes that more will follow in his footsteps.
