A 53-year-old woman, a 46-year-old woman, and a 38-year-old man were taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in fair-to-serious condition, while a 31-year-old woman was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair-to-serious condition.

Police are still investigating the cause of the incident.

Who Is to Blame in a Multi-Vehicle Accident?

While assigning blame in any car accident can be difficult, determining fault in a multi-vehicle accident can be especially challenging.

In general, when there are two vehicles involved in a collision, the vehicle that struck the other vehicle is responsible for any property damage or personal injuries that may result. But with accidents involving more than two vehicles, many different drivers may have acted negligently, and may therefore share blame at different levels. This uncertainty can complicate the process of pursuing a successful personal injury claim following a multi-vehicle accident.
