Pedestrian Killed by Motor Vehicle in Chicago’s Northwest Side

Pedestrian KilledPolice are investigating a recent incident of a pedestrian killed when she and another pedestrian were struck by a motor vehicle that was involved in a collision with another motor vehicle in Chicago’s Northwest Side.

The incident occurred on June 2, 2017, after 9 p.m.  The pedestrian killed, Edith Guevara, 58, was walking at or near the intersection of Addison Street and Keating Avenue with an unidentified 54-year-old man. An unidentified 65-year-old woman was operating her motor vehicle westbound on Addison Street at an allegedly excessive rate of speed. She then struck a vehicle making a turn onto Keating Avenue from eastbound Addison Street before colliding with both pedestrians and then crashing into a building.

Ms. Guevara was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where physicians pronounced her dead at 10:02 p.m. as a result of multiple blunt force injuries. The other pedestrian was also taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.

The 28-year-old driver of the second vehicle was treated at Community First Medical Center. The driver of the first vehicle refused medical treatment. Police cited her for her failure to keep in a lane and her failure to reduce her speed to avoid a crash.
