Worker Rescued After Naperville Construction Accident

 In General Interest Blog

Recently in Naperville, a construction worker had to be rescued from the roof of a new addition to Edward Hospital. The man had fallen while working on the site after he was struck by falling construction material. A news report doesn’t give the exact cause of the accident, though the worker was said to have suffered injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.

To rescue the man, first responders had to use a construction crane to lower him from the roof. It took roughly half an hour to complete the rescue, and the man was taken directly into Edward Hospital for treatment. The precise nature of his injuries was not disclosed in a local report.

Naperville residents have likely seen the construction work going on at the West Building of the hospital. The project will expand the building by two floors.

Unfortunately, falling accidents are fairly common on construction sites. Still, no worker who has ever been seriously injured on the job would think of his or her injuries as common. Aside from the physical pain resulting from such an accident, there is often a psychological aspect that has to be confronted.

Workers’ compensation is available to help ease the financial burden resulting from a work-related accident. It’s important, though, that anyone who has to deal with this kind of situation is aware of all of the options for receiving the maximum amount of compensation. Employers and insurance companies do what they can to limit payouts to injured workers, but there are legal avenues to ensure that your medical bills and lost wages are covered and that your path to recovery is as smooth as possible.
