THOMAS G. GORMAN is a Partner at GWC Injury Lawyers, where he works in the firm’s Litigation division.
As a high school All American football player from Chicago’s South Side, Tom learned the value of hard work and competition at an early age. Tom earned a scholarship to the University of Notre Dame, where he started as a defensive lineman. While at Notre Dame, Tom played on the 1988 National Championship team, was nominated as an Academic All-American, and won numerous national leadership awards. Although an injury ended his football career, his experiences under famed Notre Dame Coach Lou Holtz helped shape a work ethic that has served him well as a trial attorney.
After leaving the gridiron in 1989, Tom earned a Master’s Degree in Business in 1990 and a Juris Doctorate in 1993, also at Notre Dame. For more than a quarter century, Tom has represented plaintiffs in personal injury lawsuits throughout the State of Illinois. He is an accomplished trial attorney and a tireless advocate for catastrophic injury victims.
In 2012, Tom studied under America’s most famous trial lawyer, Gerry Spence, at the renowned Trial Lawyers College in Wyoming. Tom’s continued commitment to honing his courtroom skills and mastering the art of advocacy helped him set a record jury verdict for emotional damages for injuries in a car crash.
Throughout his career, Tom has dedicated all his professional time to obtaining full and fair compensation for injury victims. He prides himself on providing each client with the individual attention necessary for a successful resolution.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Tom continues to devote his personal time to the causes he holds dear. As Chairman of the Board of Directors for the John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, he heads a Chicago-based team dedicated to finding a cure for pediatric brain tumors. In 2014, Tom founded a Leadership Institute for selected Chicago high school students. The organization works to develop youth leadership skills and raise public awareness about pediatric brain tumors.
Tom is also a founding board member of the YMCA’s Kelly Hall in West Humboldt Park, a community center that serves as a haven for at-risk youth in Chicago’s West Side. The facility provides hot meals, tutoring, and afterschool activities.
For many years, Tom was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Brother Rice High School on Chicago’s South Side. He continues to serve as Chairman of the Brother Rice Foundation, raising money to ensure the continued viability of one of the city’s great college preparatory schools.
