On May 1, 2017, the Society of Trial Lawyers held its spring luncheon and meeting featuring a panel discussion on civility and professionalism in the legal profession. This year’s president, Louis C. Cairo, of GWC, hosted the event and introduced the distinguished panel consisting of The Hon. Anne M. Burke of the Illinois Supreme Court, The Hon. Robert R. Thomas of the Illinois Supreme Court and Jayne Reardon, Executive Director of the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism. The panel discussion was moderated by Lance Northcutt, a partner at GWC and Commissioner on the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism.
The luncheon provided a rare opportunity for attendees to gain valuable insight on the views of the Justices and Executive Director Reardon on issues of civility and professionalism in the trial courts, in addition to outlining the forward progress the Commission has made to address these concerns. Participants were also able to engage the panelists in a thoughtful Q and A session in which the topics of civility and professionalism were discussed in the context of the challenging adversarial environment of Illinois trial courts.
GWC is honored to have planned and arranged this event in support of our efforts to provide outstanding legal representation to our seriously injured clients and their families, while advocating and encouraging professionalism and civility in our profession.
