Roseland Boy Injured In Dog Attack

A Roseland boy was seriously injured in a dog mauling yesterday evening. Authorities say that the 9-year-old South Side boy was playing outside of his home when he was attacked by his neighbors dog around 8 p.m.

Emergency crews rushed the boy to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition. Doctors at the Oak Lawn hospital treated the boys arm and leg bites. Some relatives of the boy also told the Chicago Tribune that he had to undergo plastic surgery for his wounds this morning.

The dog was in its owners backyards when it jumped onto a table and leaped over the fence of the back yard. Authorities cited the dog owner for a variety of things including failing to restrain the dog, failure to have a dog license, and failing to have the animal properly vaccinated.

Animal control officers took the dog into custody to determine whether the boy faces a rabies risk from this dog attack. This accident happened right at the beginning
