Like so many other aspects of life since the COVID-19 pandemic began, courtrooms have gone virtual. In this “Windy City Law” segment from ABC 7 Chicago’s Windy City Live, GWC Managing Partner Louis C. Cairo speaks with host Ryan Chiaverini about how to make a good impression during a virtual court appearance.
“It’s not the same as being in a live courtroom, but you should treat it as if you are,” says Louis. “You give the system, the court system, the judicial system the respect that it deserves, whether you are in person in front of a judge or simply on video.”
Louis also emphasizes the importance of focusing on the camera. “In a courtroom, there are a million different things you’re looking at,” he explains. “On a Zoom conference, you’re on stage, you’re center stage 24/7, whether you’re being asked the questions or not.”
