Chicago Apple Store Crashed By Elderly Driver

A Lincoln Park Apple store was severely damaged on Sunday when a car crashed through the store’s windows shortly before close.

Authorities responded to the Apple computer store on 801 W. North Ave. after reports that an elderly driver crashed a town car through the store’s broad glass storefront.

Several photos of the scene show a black town car fully within the store, stopped only a few feet in front of a shelf containing accessories such as headphones.

The Chicago Tribune reports that several people initially refused treatment at the scene but paramedics were later called back to the store to take someone to the hospital. Details regarding the car accident victim are unknown other than the injured person was in good condition and taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital.

It is unclear what caused the driver to crash into the computer store but a witness said that he believes that the driver was going too fast for the road conditions.

The witness also said that the store was not crowded at the time of the crash and that it almost looked closed. The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday and the store was scheduled to be open for another 30 minutes at the time of the crash.
