A rise in the number of pedestrians who have been hit by cars, trucks, buses, trains and other vehicles could be explained by the increased use of headphone devices. The incidents of headphone wearing pedestrians being struck by vehicles prompted the University of Maryland in Baltimore to take a closer look. A speeding driver was killed and four passengers were injured in Rogers Park last Thursday. Authorities say that a man was speeding on eastbound West Howard Street when he came upon slowed or stopped traffic. The driver veered off of the road and struck a tree.
