Being a Successful Lawyer is more than about the Practice of Law

Being a successful lawyer is not always about just practicing law. With our success on behalf of our clients comes a responsibility to give back to those in need and to various other worthy causes. The attorneys at GWC understand and live by this concept and are regularly involved in charitable events and organizations which have nothing to do with the law. These out of court ventures serve multiple goals for GWCs senior partner, Louis Cairo, because they not only help to raise money for very important and needy causes, but they cast a very positive light on our profession which is often seen as greedy, self-centered lawyers who put monetary successes before charitable responsibilities. My partners and I are always proud to share our successes with groups, individuals and organizations that promote taking care of nature, the underprivileged, the sick/disabled and, of course, our war veterans.

Recently, GWC proudly sponsored a Sporting Clay Shoot to help raise money for Conservation and Preservation efforts for future outdoorsmen and women. On August 4, 2012, Chicagos Largest Personal Injury and Workers Compensation Law Firm has sponsored another event attended by 145 shooters from various northern Illinois labor organizations. The event, organized by The Union Sportsmen Alliance, is held annually in various states throughout the country. This years event, the first held for the Illinois AFL-CIO and Chicago Building Trades, was the largest first time event in the country.

The event organizers got the word out throughout the unions, coupled with diligent efforts from the events Safety Sponsor, GWC, to bring together as many people interested in helping a very worthy cause as possible. Monies raised are used to help promote conservation and preservation, the building of wildlife habitats for nesting, seeding feeding areas, acquisition of hunting rights and setting up hunting expeditions for physically challenged children and war veterans.

GWC donated several thousands of dollars to this great cause to help promote these very important initiatives, as well as custom made safety orange Tee shirts for all shooters to h ave.

The GWC team not only provide much needed financial assistance for the event, the fabulous McGraw Wildlife Foundation in East Dundee was the host sight for the event which is Louis Cairos hunting and fishing club. Additionally, the GWC team [Cairo Sr., Cairo Jr., Larson and Tony Walker] took 3rd place in the A class of the shooting event.

September 14th, 2012 GWC will be hosting another such shooting event at McGraw on behalf of the Shoot for a Cure organization to help raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and MS. Interested shooter and sponsors should contact Mr. Cairo for an Invitation and Sponsorship information sheet, or visit the organizations website atwww.shootforacure.us.

Additionally, GWC has been a major sponsor and supporter of Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation. BNPCF is an amazing organization started by Kathleen Casey after her wonderful son, Bear, lost his battle with cancer in 1993. The non-for-profit organization raises funds to make dreams come true for these unfortunate sick children. Sports tickets, trips to Disney World, theater show, visits by celebrities, and the like are all part of the organizations efforts to make a day in the lives of these children special. BNPCF has raised millions of dollars for these causes and have distributed these funds to make these dreams come true for hundreds and hundreds of children, for stuffed animal bears for each new child diagnosed in Chicago-land with cancer, and to researchers to help find a cure for pediatric cancers. For more information on BNPCF, check out their website at www.bearnecessities.org.

There is certainly a lot to know in order to be a successful lawyer, and to run Chicagos Largest Personal Injury and Workers Compensation law firm. But there is definitely a lot more to know about the men who run that law firm than simply the great results that they work so hard to get for their clients! Check out our website or give us a call if you wish to participate in any of the above charitable functions or have any questions about GWC. Louis C. Cairo
