Estate of Man Killed in Crash Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit

Wrongful Death LawsuitThe estate of a man who was killed last year has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver of the vehicle that struck him.

On May 22, 2017, Joanne Hwa Lee, the special administrator of the estate of Tae J. Kwon, deceased, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Janice K. Hamilton in Cook County Circuit Court. The lawsuit sought damages in excess of $50,000.00.

The legal matter arises from an incident that occurred on November 18, 2016. On that date, Mr. Kwon was riding his bicycle south on Kostner Avenue in north suburban Skokie when Ms. Hamilton allegedly struck him with a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox while making a left turn from eastbound Mulford Street.

Mr. Kwon died on December 30, more than a month after the collision. The lawsuit further alleges that the medical examiner’s autopsy found that his death from complications from injuries sustained in the incident at issue.
