GWC’s Jacqueline Hickey Working on Behalf of Chicagoland’s Latino Community

Jacqueline HickeyGWC Injury Lawyers attorney Jacqueline Hickey has been working on behalf of Chicagoland’s Latino community, representing the firm during the 11th Annual Latin American Labor Rights Week and serving as a Consultant Attorney for the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago.

From August 24 through August 31, Ms. Hickey spoke at churches and community centers from the South Side of Chicago to as far north as Rockford. She also gave speeches at the consulates of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Ecuador.

Ms. Hickey was accompanied by speakers from multiple government entities, including the United States Department of Labor, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Social Security Administration, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. The events were designed to inform the Latino community about workers’ rights in all areas including work injuries, wrongful termination, and discrimination.

On September 24, Ms. Hickey was also ratified by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico as a Consultant Attorney (Abogado Consultor) for the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago. This five-year honorary title gives her the opportunity to advise the Mexican community and the Consulate on issues related to workers’ compensation and personal injury law.

Ms. Hickey is fluent in Spanish and is of Mexican descent.
