[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Americas largest phone carriers have teamed up to fund an anti-texting while driving campaign. The high-profile public awareness campaign is called It Can Wait and has featured prominently on Tumblr, a social networking site popular with teens and college-aged students.
The campaign is sponsored by AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile. The carriers say that almost a quarter of all car accidents are caused by texting.
The phone companies are directing people to itcanwait.com, a website where people can pledge never to text while driving. The pledge means that no text message, email, website or video is worth the risk of endangering my life or the lives of others on the road.
Several celebrities have endorsed this public awareness campaign including pop star Demi Lovato.
Im taking the pledge to never text and drive, Lovato said. No text is worth the risk. It can wait.
