Local authorities from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Dept have provided initial details on a fatal car accident that occurred on Monday afternoon.
According to the report, 25 year of Mr. Trevor A. Lester was headed eastbound on Illinois Route 18 when his vehicle collided with a pickup truck being driven by 46 year old Mr. Jeffrey A. Nott from East Peoria.
The crash took place just near the Sandy Creek Bridge, where the force of the accident pushed both vehicles into the railings on the bridge. Mr. Lester’s vehicle suffered significant damage that required first responders to extricate him from the wreckage.
Mr. Lester was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the pickup was taken to Peoria’s OSF St. Francis Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation continues.
