One Dead, Three Injured in Dan Ryan Expressway Crash

On June 8 at 6:08 a.m., one-year-old Lazel Bond of Homewood was pronounced dead at Comer Children’s Hospital. According to the Illinois State Police, the girl had been involved in a Dan Ryan Expressway crash that took place on June 6 at 12:10 a.m. near the 59th Street exit.

Lazel had been traveling in a 2013 gray Audi that was heading northbound on I-94. The vehicle then reportedly made contact with a 2008 blue Mazda that was also traveling northbound in the local lanes. Police said that the Audi then “continued to veer to the right, up the embankment,” and hit a concrete wall.

Three other people in the Audi were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries from the Dan Ryan Expressway crash, including the 26-year-old male driver, a 23-year-old South Holland woman, and a 24-year-old Chicago woman. The four occupants of the Mazda, however, were all uninjured.
