GWC Donates $25,000.00 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

GWC Injury Lawyers has donated $25,000.00 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is a leader in understanding, treating and defeating childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

GWC’s Commitment To Giving Back

Donating to St. Jude is in keeping with GWC and managing partner Louis C. Cairo’s longstanding commitment to giving back to the community. “I am honored to play a small role in helping the sick children of St. Jude,” said GWC Managing Partner Louis C. Cairo.

GWC and Mr. Cairo have provided ongoing support to a number of worthy organizations over the years. These charities include the Rolfe Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, which raises funds to advance the development of early detection and medical research and to provide resources for pancreatic cancer patients, and the Michael Matters Foundation, which gives grants to brain cancer research doctors, and money to brain tumor patients and their families to help them manage incidental costs while they remain focused on their treatment.

St. Jude Treats Patients At No Cost

Founded in 1962 by Danny Thomas, St. Jude is a non-profit pediatric treatment and research facility focused on children’s catastrophic diseases, particularly leukemia and other cancers. St. Jude treats infants, children, teenagers, and young adults up to the age of 21 – and up to the age of 25 in some cases – all at no cost to the patients and their families.

The facility is located in Memphis, TN, though St. Jude is associated with several affiliated hospitals throughout the country, including St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, Children’s Hospital of Illinois in Peoria.

While St. Jude does not charge patients for their care, it costs approximately $2.8 million a day to run the hospital. St. Jude relies heavily upon charitable donations to continue its important work. Donations can help give families lifesaving care and treatment for their child, meals and lodging, and toys and games so patients can feel like kids.
