Several children have been injured in a Justice school bus accident while they were on their way to a program at a Bridgeview school.

Justice School Bus Accident Sends Three to Hospital

The Justice school bus accident took place at approximately 6:00 a.m. on December 4, 2019. At that time, a school bus was traveling northbound on 79th Street when it turned west onto 85th Street. It then struck another school bus with five elementary school students on board. The turning bus school bus was not transporting students at that time, according to Justice Police Sergeant Fred Schuerg.

Indian Springs School District Superintendent Blair Nuccio said the students had been headed to an extended-day math program at Bridgeview Elementary School. Three of the children were transported to area hospitals to receive treatment for their injuries.

The school bus drivers were reportedly employed by First Student Inc.

The School Bus Accident Lawyers That Illinois Trusts

About 23.5 million elementary and secondary school children nationwide ride a bus to and from school. When extracurricular activities are taken into account, the school bus system easily becomes the single largest public transit system in the United States.

Nearly every day, we place the safety of our nation’s most precious cargo in the hands of school bus drivers. We trust these strangers to care for our children, to bring them back home unharmed. America secures its future on this foundation of trust.

But this trust can be betrayed. Did you know that about 17,000 children are treated in hospital emergency rooms each year for injuries associated with school buses? Or that there are an average of 128 school-bus-related deaths annually?

If the worst happens, and your child is seriously hurt or even killed, who will be held accountable? The bus driver? The driver of another vehicle? The school district? Some other person or entity entirely? Who will properly identify all the responsible parties and make them pay for their negligence?

For more than four decades, Illinois families in these tragic situations have turned to the school bus accident attorneys at GWC Injury Lawyers LLC.
