MICHAEL D. FISHER is a partner in the Law Offices of GWC Injury Lawyers, having started his career with the firm in 1985 as a law clerk while in law school and then as an associate in 1987.

He is an aggressive and sophisticated litigator who represents clients in all areas of personal injury law, including construction negligence, workplace accidents, defective products, trucking accidents, automobile accidents, premises liability, and other catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.  Michael has successfully handled cases in both State and Federal Courts in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.

Michael has secured over $300 Million Dollars in jury verdicts and settlements for his clients and was a member of the GWC team that established the firm’s previous high settlement record of $13,750,000.00 Million Dollars in a wrongful death case and more recently, $20,000,000.00 Million Dollars on behalf of a severly injured union laborer. Some of his other significant jury verdicts and settlements include:

  • $10.5 million for a Teamster who sustained a traumatic, below the knee amputation after being run over by a road grinding machine (settlement)
  • $10 million for a pipefitter who sustained a traumatic brain injury when he fell through a false ceiling (settlement)
  • $9.3 million for the family of a factory worker killed in an automobile accident (jury verdict)
  • $8 million for a family of a union tuck pointer who was fatally injured in an unwitnessed lift tip over accident (settlement)
  • $6.4 million for a family of a union ironworker who was killed during the erection of a steel bridge (settlement)
  • $6.01 million for a union electrician who sustained severe shoulder injuries when electrocuted by a defective lighting fixture (settlement)
  • $5.3 million for a union laborer who sustained a traumatic brain injury and shoulder fracture when he was struck by a crane boom (settlement)
  • $4.1 million for a union electrician who sustained a knee injury when a switch gear fell on his leg (jury verdict)
  • $3.5 million for family of a concrete labor killed when he fell from a foundation wall (binding arbitration)
  • $2.85 million for a union painter who fell from scissor’s lift injuring his foot (largest personal injury verdict in Jo Daviess County)

Michael has been recognized by his peers for his accomplishments as a trial lawyer.  He has received the Illinois Jury Verdict Reporter’s prestigious award for “Trial Lawyer Excellence”; Chicago Lawyer Magazine’s “Leading Attorney in Illinois” by virtue of the number of multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements he has obtained for his clients; Illinois Leading Lawyer Network’s designation as a “Leading Lawyer” (only 5% of the State’s lawyers in any practice area are so designated); and the designation as a “Super Lawyer” by The Super Lawyers Organization.

Michael is married and has three adult children.
