A fatal truck accident closed Interstate 80 this morning near Joliet. NBC Chicago reports that two semi-trucks collided on I-80 near Houbolt Road. One of the semi-trucks caught fire after the crash.
Information on news reports is scarce, but at least two people were injured and treated at the scene. One man reportedly died in this accident, but it is unclear where the man is from or whether he was driving one of the trucks.
Another serious crash injured eight people Monday afternoon near the south end of Jackson Park. The Chicago Tribune reports that the three-car accident involved two minivans and a sedan around 4 p.m.
The accident happened near where the Woodlawn and Grand Crossing neighborhoods meet at 67th Street and Blackstone Avenue.
At least one person was taken to the hospital in serious-to-critical condition. Fortunately, this car accident happened right near a Chicago firehouse, so emergency responders were on the scene quickly.
