How the VICP Compensates the Injured

The Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, or VICP, provides compensation for persons who have been injured by various childhood vaccines.

Legal representation of your vaccine injury case comes at no financial cost to you. Instead, all attorney’s fees are paid separately by the United States Court of Federal Claims and are taken out of the Vaccine Injury Fund.

There are time constraints. You only have three years to file your claim. For a vaccine-related injury, your claim must be filed within 3 years after the first symptom of the vaccine injury.

For a vaccine-related death, your claim must be filed within 2 years of the death and 4 years after the start of first symptom of the vaccine-related injury from which the death occurred.

It is crucial that you understand your rights. The law limits how long you have to file a claim. When physicians, surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, dentists and other medical professionals make negligent errors, they should be held responsible for their errors, and they should shoulder the financial burden for the damages they’ve caused.
