Head-On Collision, Significant Injuries
At the time of the incident, GWC’s client was a meter reader for Nicor Gas and a proud member of IBEW Local 19 for many years. On the morning of March 1, 2013, he was traveling westbound on US-14 in a sedan as part of his work route. At this time, the defendant driver was operating a large SUV eastbound at an excessive rate of speed for the snowy conditions on the same road. The defendant driver then lost control of the SUV and veered into the westbound lane of traffic, where he collided with the sedan head on.
As a result of the crash, GWC’s client suffered severe injuries, including a fracture of the left eye socket, laceration of the spleen, and fractures of the right knee and wrist.
To treat these injuries, he had to undergo multiple surgical procedures and significant physical therapy. Despite his treatment, the client continues to experienced problems with his everyday activities because of his injuries, which include recurrent knee pain and deficits in his memory functions.
Financial Crisis Averted
Because of the surgeries, countless doctor visits, and months of recovery, the collision resulted serious economic damages for the client and his family.
