Partners Louis Cairo and Colin O’Malley visited with Fernando Chavéz, son of the late union activist and heroic organizer of the Hispanic farm workers of America, Cesár Chavéz, at The Trial Lawyers Summit in Miami.
Chavéz was a keynote speaker at this years National Trial Lawyers Summit. GWC Injury Lawyers, strong supporters of unions and everyday working Americans, feel very fortunate to hear Fernando Chavéz reflect on his fathers legacy and his own work at the National Trial Lawyers Summit in Miami.
Cesár Chavéz: Union Activist & Organizer
While most Americans are familiar with the civil rights work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., his contemporary Cesár Estrada Chavéz, was also one of the leading civil rights organizers of the 20thcentury.
Chavéz came from a family of migrant farm workers. He would go on to to teach himself the philosophy, strategy and ideas of great thinkers and lead one of the nations most vital workers movements.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Chavéz devoted his life to improving the lives of workers and would create the National Farm Workers Association later renamed United Farm Workers union (UFW).
The legacy of Cesár Chavéz and Fernando Chavéz is one that dovetails very well with the pro-worker commitments of attorneys at GWC Injury Lawyers.
