StepUp Sidekick Learning Tower Recalled

An Ohio-based manufacturer is recalling the StepUp Sidekick Learning Tower after receiving multiple reports that it could pose a fall hazard to children.

Tray and Step May Come Loose

The Step2 Company LLC of Streetsboro, OH announced its recall of the StepUp Sidekick Learning Tower on September 2, 2021. The product features two steps and a front-facing tray with two cup holders for storage. The tower functions as a chair and a helper stool for young children, allowing them to reach elevated places like the bathroom sink. Once children make it to the second step, a mechanism can be clapped shut behind them.

According to Step2, the storage tray and step have been found to come loose from the StepUp Sidekick Learning Tower, which may pose a fall hazard. The company has received twenty reports of such incidents, including one in which a child sustained “minor bruises” after falling from the tower. No personal injury attorneys have reportedly filed suit at this time.

Step2.com and Amazon.com sold about 1,570 units of the StepUp Sidekick Learning Tower in the United States in May 2021, with an additional 34 sold in Canada. The retail price was approximately $100.00.
