Top Work Injury Settlement this Year
The firm is especially proud to have secured the largest work injury settlement in Illinois thus far in 2023 [$20,000,000.00] when it settled a case on behalf of a union laborer who was struck by the boom of a Gradall machine and pushed into a wrought iron fence post, causing a cranio-cervical dissociation injury. The laborer’s injury on a Chicago construction site cost him his trade and permanently restricted his physical activity. GWC partners Louis C. Cairo, Michael D. Fisher, and Louis A. Cairo worked tirelessly on this highly contested case, uncovering video footage that directly contradicted defense testimony placing blame for the incident on their client.
Thanks to their efforts, GWC was able to recover the maximum amount of compensation possible from the parties responsible for this career-ending injury, including the Gradall contractor, the general contractor, and the out-of-state owner of the fiber optic system being installed. Both of the latter defendants were never on the jobsite as of the date of occurrence, yet they still paid!
