Chicago Workers’ Compensation Attorneys for Union Workers
In Illinois, employers pay for the costs of a workplace injury or illness under the state workers’ compensation program. Many people associate workers’ compensation benefits with medical expenses, but the benefits can also include reimbursement for lost wages, wrongful death of a loved one, permanent or total disability, and retraining programs.
The Chicago workers’ compensation law firm of GWC Injury Lawyers is one of the largest workers’ compensation and personal injury firms in Illinois. We represent more union workers than any other law firm and handle cases involving all types of unions, including the Transportation Communications International Union (TCU) and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW).
TCU: A Union With A Proud History
The Transportation Communications International Union represents approximately 46,000 members, mostly employed within the transportation industry. In 2005, the TCU voted to merge with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. The merger was completed in early 2012.
Many former TCU members, especially retirees, continue to associate with the TCU brand after the merger. Although officially part of the IAMAW, the TCU still operates as a semi-autonomous entity. The union has divisions for airway supervisors and railway workers, and it represents truck drivers, accountants, secretaries, police officers, and clerks, among other occupations.
